The 2026 live music season continues to build with more iconic names and unmissable shows added to the line-ups at TK Maxx presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre and TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall.
New additions include Alex James’ Britpop Classical, a groundbreaking orchestral celebration of the Britpop era; Scottish indie legends Belle and Sebastian with special guests Saint Etienne; Liverpool favourites The Wombats; and pop-rock mainstays Deacon Blue with very special guests Lightning Seeds.
Following its spectacular world premiere at The Big Feastival, Alex James’ Britpop Classical hits the road for its debut UK tour in 2026, including two Yorkshire dates: Scarborough OAT on Friday July 17 and The Piece Hall, Halifax on Sunday July 19.
The show brings the biggest hits of the Britpop era – from Blur, Oasis, Pulp, The Verve, Supergrass and more – to life with a full orchestra, band, and star vocalists. Joining Blur bassist and show creator Alex James on stage are Phil Daniels, Saffron (Republica), Gary Stringer (Reef) and more to be announced.
Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL, CEO of The Piece Hall Charitable Trust, said: “Hearing so many iconic tunes from the 90s reimagined by musicians from our finest orchestras alongside superstar vocalists will be very special indeed.”
Scottish indie favourites Belle and Sebastian will mark the 30th anniversary of their acclaimed album If You’re Feeling Sinister with a special headline show at The Piece Hall on Sunday June 21.
The band will perform the album in full – including beloved tracks like ‘Get Me Away from Here, I’m Dying’ and ‘The Fox in the Snow’ – alongside career-spanning hits. Opening the show are pop icons Saint Etienne.
Another Halifax debut comes from The Wombats, who will bring their generation-defining indie sound to The Piece Hall on Friday August 21. They’ll be joined by Circa Waves, rising stars Cherryholt, and local favourites The Caymans.
Fresh from a world tour and the release of sixth studio album Oh! The Ocean, The Wombats are set to light up the stage with anthems including ‘Let’s Dance to Joy Division’ and ‘Greek Tragedy’.
Scottish pop-rock legends Deacon Blue will perform in both Scarborough and Halifax in summer 2026, playing The Piece Hall on Thursday July 9 and Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Friday July 10.
Their shows will be packed with classics such as ‘Real Gone Kid’, ‘Dignity’, and ‘Fergus Sings The Blues’ alongside material from 2023’s acclaimed album The Great Western Road. They’ll be joined by very special guests Lightning Seeds.
Julian Murray, of Scarborough OAT promoters Cuffe and Taylor, said: “Summer 2026 is shaping up to be a season of hits on the Yorkshire coast.”
These newly announced shows join an already stacked line-up that includes Paul Weller, The Kooks, Billy Ocean, Teddy Swims, Embrace, David Gray, Ethel Cain, Opeth and more, with even more headline announcements to come in the weeks ahead.
