David Gray’s ‘Past & Present’ world tour is in full swing, celebrating both his critically acclaimed new album, Dear Life, and his remarkable career spanning over three decades. The tour, which kicked off in the U.S., sees Gray performing across the UK and Ireland, with select dates in Yorkshire this March.
Gray first made his breakthrough with White Ladder, one of the best-selling British albums of recent decades, which catapulted him into international success.
Now on his thirteenth studio album, Dear Life, Gray continues to evolve as an artist, crafting songs that critics have hailed as “a brooding triumph” (Telegraph), “his most confessional and emotive work to date” (Clash Magazine), and “a soulful collection of richly poetic songs” (Independent).
David Gray says, “A lot has happened to me. There’s been change on so many levels, all the ups and downs and dramas and tragedies and joys that the slow movement through life brings. This record has been a reckoning with stuff that’s been building up like static for years. But I say this with joy and a smile on my face. I know what I’ve done is as good as anything I could possibly do.”
His latest album, Dear Life, draws inspiration from his early work while expanding into new sonic territory with lush orchestral arrangements. Critics have likened it to White Ladder, noting its emotional depth and richly poetic songwriting.
Gray will be joined on tour by special guest Talia Rae, his collaborator on the Radio 2 playlisted single ‘Plus & Minus’. Tickets are on sale now.
