Haircut One Hundred to play York Barbican on 2026 UK tour

Haircut 100 Boxing The Compass

Haircut One Hundred are heading to Yorkshire next spring as part of their first full UK headline tour in three years. The band will play York Barbican on Friday 8 May 2026 in support of their brand-new album Boxing The Compass, which is set for release on 20 March 2026.

A long-awaited reunion

The record marks a major moment for the group, reuniting Nick Heyward with his bandmates Graham Jones, Les Nemes and Blair Cunningham for their first album together in 44 years. Their comeback gathered pace last year when their single ‘The Unloving Plum’ was named BBC Radio 2’s Record of the Week, reigniting the spark that first brought them success with classic 1980s hits such as ‘Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)’, ‘Love Plus One’, ‘Fantastic Day’ and ‘Nobody’s Fool’.

New music and familiar magic

New single ‘Dynamite’ premiered on Scott Mills’ Radio 2 show and showcases the band’s trademark pop energy, layered with disco guitars, brass and jazzy flourishes. “It’s about the day and the night and meeting via satellite,” said Heyward. “Whether it’s your soul mate, long lost family members, future friends, or your people. It’s about communication and how explosive it can be. It really is dynamite.”

Boxing The Compass

Recorded with Sean Read (Dexys) at Famous Times Studio in East London, Boxing The Compass finds Haircut One Hundred rediscovering their melodic spark while exploring new sounds. “We’re arriving back at the port we left 43 years ago with a log of songs from our personal travels,” Heyward explained. “Wherever I’ve been in the world, I’ve always been Nick Heyward of Haircut 100 and we’re all ready to set sail again for more adventures on the high seas.”

York date confirmed

Their May 2026 tour includes stops in London, Manchester, Glasgow and Bath, with Yorkshire fans able to catch the band live at York Barbican on Friday 8 May. Tickets are on sale now via usual outlets, with pre-sale access available to those who pre-order Boxing The Compass from the band’s official store.

With their classic line-up back together and new music full of warmth, melody and optimism, Haircut One Hundred’s York show looks set to be a joyful celebration of both past and present.
