After the success of last year’s sold-out debut, Endless Spite 2 is coming to Shipley this winter with another full-throttle celebration of punk, hardcore and noise. The one-day event — a collaboration between Endless Hum and the legendary Out of Spite collective — takes place on Saturday 6 December at the newly refurbished Kirkgate Community Centre.
Renowned for hosting some of the most iconic punk and hardcore shows across Leeds and Bradford for more than two decades, the Out of Spite team are once again promising a day to remember. This year, the action unfolds on a single stage complete with a brand-new PA and lighting setup, plus live projections, record stalls, food vendors, merchandise, craft ale from the Triangle, and more still to be announced.
Headlining the day are Leeds post-hardcore favourites And None of Them Knew They Were Robots, playing their first gig in over nine years following the release of their new album Almanac. The band made their name in the early 2000s with an intense, emotional sound that earned them cult status across the DIY scene. Their return is one of the most anticipated moments of the event.
They’ll be joined by AAA Gripper, the experimental project formed at the first Wrong Speed Records Festival in 2023. Featuring members of Hey Colossus, Joey Fat, Cats and Cats and Cats, and Sweet Williams, their debut album We Invented Work For The Common Good arrived earlier this year — a record described by fans as “radical, raw and completely their own”.
Also on the bill are Fast Blood, whose sound has been compared to DESCENDENTS, HOT SNAKES and PRETTY GIRLS MAKE GRAVES. Expect fast-paced, melodic punk laced with 90s emo energy and a garage-punk edge.
From Tees Valley come Onlooker, described as “a band of five, steadfast and resolute in their mission to enact sonic annihilation on all who stand before them.” Their blend of doom-laden riffs and wry humour has made them a rising force on the northern scene. Joining them are Newcastle trio The Unit Ama, whose recent Gringo Records release Toward showcases their blend of Husker Du intensity and Fugazi precision. With two decades under their belt, they remain a vital live act.
Leeds DIY regulars Ox Scapula return after impressing at last year’s Endless Spite, bringing their “frantic stroppy guitars and heavy grooving bass” back to Shipley. And completing the line-up are Hidden Youth, a Leeds-based outfit blending 90s emo and melodic punk, featuring members of Nai Harvest, D-Rail and Beecher.
Tickets are on sale now and, as with last year, are strictly first come, first served. Advance digital tickets are priced at £15 via TicketSource, with any remaining available on the door for £20. The event runs from 3.30pm until 11pm, timed perfectly for public transport, with both Shipley and Saltaire train stations just a short walk away.
The Kirkgate Community Centre is fully wheelchair accessible, and organisers emphasise that “everyone is welcome but any forms of discrimination are not.” It’s an 18+ gig, though under-18s may attend with a guardian and at the venue’s discretion.
With its DIY spirit intact and a line-up stacked with cult favourites, Endless Spite 2 looks set to bring another unforgettable day of noise, energy and camaraderie to Shipley.
