Icons of the original post-punk era, The Psychedelic Furs have announced their UK tour plans for later this year, stopping at beloved venues across the country throughout October – including a much-anticipated night in Leeds.
This autumn, the band will bring their British post-punk sound to select stages, performing timeless hits such as ‘Love My Way’, ‘Heaven’, and ‘Pretty In Pink’, alongside deeper cuts from their back catalogue. With decades of cult acclaim behind them, the band promises a dazzling live show that’s been decades in the making.
The Psychedelic Furs will be joined on the road by special guest and post-punk icon Anja Huwe, marking her first UK shows in over 15 years. Best known as the vocalist for German goth trailblazers Xmal Deutschland, Huwe returned to music last year with her debut solo album Codes, released via Sacred Bones. Earlier this year, she released “PolarForest”, blending her solo track “Living In The Forest” with Xmal Deutschland’s 1987 song “Polarlicht”.
The Psychedelic Furs may not have invented rock and roll, but their influence since arriving on the post-punk scorched-earth landscape over forty years ago continues to resonate. Born out of the UK scene and led by vocalist and songwriter Richard Butler, alongside his bass-playing brother Tim, the band developed a sound that made them favourites on college and alternative radio worldwide.
With hits like ‘The Ghost In You’, ‘Heartbreak Beat’, and ‘Pretty In Pink’ – the latter of which famously inspired one of cinema’s most iconic soundtracks – the band released eight studio albums and several compilations, and recently returned with 2020’s Made Of Rain. It became their second-highest charting UK album, praised globally and featured in numerous end-of-year lists.
The Furs especially thrive live, having previously headlined Glastonbury and played revered venues such as London’s Royal Albert Hall, New York’s Radio City Music Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl. Their current line-up features Richard Butler (vocals), Tim Butler (bass), Rich Good (guitar), Amanda Kramer (keyboards), Zachary Alford (drums), and Peter DiStefano (guitar).

A new wave of artists has been added to the line-up for this year’s TK Maxx presents Scarborough Open Air Theatre.
