Two globally acclaimed artists have been added to the growing programme of shows at TK Maxx presents Live at The Piece Hall, with Empire of the Sun and David Byrne both confirmed to headline the historic Halifax venue next summer.
Australian electronic pop visionaries Empire of the Sun will headline The Piece Hall on Sunday June 28, marking one of only three UK dates on their long-awaited return to Europe. The Halifax show forms part of their Ask That God tour and comes after a six-year absence from European stages.
Renowned for their immersive, theatrical live performances, Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore have built a reputation for turning concerts into full-scale visual experiences. Their latest album Ask That God, released in 2024, ushered in a bold new era for the duo and features tracks including ‘Changes’, ‘Cherry Blossom’ and ‘Music On The Radio’, alongside a catalogue of global hits such as ‘Walking On A Dream’, ‘We Are The People’ and ‘Alive’.

Later in the summer, musician, writer, visual artist and filmmaker David Byrne will bring his Who Is The Sky? world tour to The Piece Hall on Saturday July 18. The former Talking Heads frontman returns to Yorkshire with a live show that continues his celebrated exploration of music, movement, art and human connection, following the global success of American Utopia.
Byrne’s most recent album, Who Is The Sky?, released last year, features collaborations with artists including Hayley Williams, St. Vincent and Tom Skinner, and expands on the optimistic, rhythmic and cinematic qualities that have defined his recent work. Across a career spanning five decades, Byrne has collaborated with the likes of Brian Eno and Fatboy Slim, earned an Oscar, GRAMMY, Golden Globe and Tony Award, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of Talking Heads.
Both shows further strengthen an already landmark season at The Piece Hall, which continues to attract world-class artists from across genres to its iconic open-air courtyard. With more announcements still to come, the 2026 programme is shaping up to be one of the venue’s most ambitious yet.
