This tour promises to be a captivating journey through his career, featuring solo acoustic renditions of his most cherished classics.
The demand for this tour has been nothing short of phenomenal, with shows in Glasgow, Dunfermline, Portsmouth, and Leek selling out in record time. John Power himself extends a heartfelt invitation: “Come join me for this autumn’s acoustic tour. I’ll be playing songs from the early days right through to the present. Be lovely to see you all.”
John Power’s musical journey began as the bassist for The La’s, where he played a pivotal role in the creation of their critically acclaimed self-titled debut album. He then transitioned to lead vocals and guitar, founding Cast, a band that would go on to play a key part in the Britpop era. Cast’s discography boasts classics such as ‘Walkway,’ ‘Alright,’ ‘Fine Time,’ and ‘Flying,’ resulting in seven Top 10 hits and three more that graced the Top 20. Their first three albums all achieved Top 10 status, earning two Platinum and one Silver certification.
Following Cast’s hiatus after their fourth album, John Power embarked on a solo career that skilfully incorporated raw Americana and blues influences into albums like ‘Happening For Love’ (2003), ‘Willow She Weeps’ (2006), and ‘Stormbreaker’ (2008).
The reunion of Cast in 2010 marked a triumphant return to the stage, with two additional albums released since then. Their latest offering, ‘Kicking Up Dust,’ earned praise from Allmusic, describing it as “stronger than not only its predecessor but such ’90s efforts as ‘Mother Nature Calls’ and ‘Magic Hour’.”
Exciting news for Cast fans on the horizon: the band’s first album since 2017 is nearing completion and is slated for an early release next year, following a series of summer shows, including a Greatest Hits homecoming set in Liverpool and a massive outdoor performance alongside Richard Ashcroft.
John Power’s solo tour promises to be a celebration of timeless music, a testament to his enduring talent, and an unmissable experience for fans old and new. Grab your tickets now to secure your place in this musical journey through the ages.
